Ilaria Muggianu Scano

Ilaria Muggianu Scano Winner of the 2022 Grazia Deledda International Prize, essayist, journalist, playwright, and television scriptwriter Muggianu Scano has studied Grazie Deledda for twenty years. Her broad background ranges from Engineering to a degree in Philosophy, with studies in Theology, Sociology, and Semiotics. She teaches at the DeSanctis-Deledda Linguistic, Biotechnological, and Psychosocial Secondary School in Cagliari. For La Nuova Sardegna oversees a regular column dedicated to schools and universities. She has won numerous international prizes for her research and activism in defense of women and minorities, including top awards from the Premio Alghero Donna and the Sorellanza Prize. In addition to studies at the Baskerville Academy of Literature and Screenwriting, she investigates the world of sports with inquests, investigations, and interviews with international leaders in the field. She is the first woman to belong to the Italian Society for the History of Sport (SISS), The European Committee for Sports History (CESH), and the International Society for the History of Physical Education and Sport (ISHPES). She is the Artistic Director of the 2002 D.H. Lawrence—Travel Literature Festival and also of the From Silence to the Word Festival: Sardegna in the Lyrics of Fabrizio de Andrè and Franco Battiato.
