Duilio Caocci teaches Italian and Sardinian Literature at the School of Humanistic Studies, Cagliari. From 2009-20011 he served as a member of the National Committee for the Hundredth Anniversary of the Birth of Giuseppe Dessì, and in 2016 as Secretary of the National Commission for the Collected Works of Grazia Deledda, under the Italian Ministry of Cultural Affairs. Caocci is also Co-Director of the International Seminar on the work of Andrea Camilleri and of the journal Quaderni camilleriani.

He has published numerous essays on Medieval Italian Literature and on Sardinian Literature from the Sixteenth to the Twentieth Century.
