Dino Manca

Dino Manca is Professor of Philology of Italian Literature at the University of Sassari, where he also teaches Italian Linguistics and Sardinian Literature and Philology. He is a member of the Association of Italian Philologists and the National Association of Poets and Writers in Dialect. He directs the “Philology of Italian Literature” series, belongs to the Commission for the National Edition of the Collected Works of Grazia Deledda, and is Curator of the new National Edition of the Works of Luigi Pirandello. In 2020 he received the Grazia Deledda National Literary Award.

Professor Manca serves as Sardinian Language and Culture delegate to the President of the University of Sassari and performs the same function for the curriculum of the Laurea Magistrale in Literature. He is a member of the scientific committee of ISRE and the Sardinian Writers Manuscript Collection at the University of Sassari, President of the Ozieri Prize in Sardinian Literature, and President of the “Deledda Studies” Commission for the National Literary Award. He coordinates the scientific committee of ISRE for the 150th Anniversary Celebrations for Grazia Deledda. His research focuses on the relations between philology, linguistics, and literary criticism, with particular attention to editorial and authorial philology

Among other projects, he curated the first critical editions of the works of Grazie Deledda (Il ritorno del figlio, L’edera, Cosima, Elias Portolu, Annalena Bilsini, Le due giustizie), as well as of Giuseppe Dessì (Tra le carte di Michele Boschino), Salvatore Farina (Carteggio Farina-De Gubernatis), Pompeo Calvia (Quiteria), and Antonio Cano (Sa Vitta et sa Morte, et Passione de sanctu Gavini, Prothu et Januariu). He studies Sardinian literary communications and textual, linguistic, and literary theory. He has published critical analyses of the work of Vasco Pratolini, Corrado Alvaro, Salvatore Farina, Giuseppe Dessì, Salvatore and Sebastiano Satta, Antonio Cano, Gerolamo Araolla, Pompeo Calvia, Francesco Cucca, Gavino Ledda, Sergio Atzeni, Publio Dui, Giulio Angioni, and Marcello Fois.
