Angela Guiso

Angela Guiso, native to Nuoro, is a literary critic, professor of Italian and Latin, journalist, and publicist. She collaborates with the Department of Modern Philology of the University of Cagliari and has participated in numerous national and international conventions. In addition to many journalistic pieces on a wide range of cultural phenomena, she has published forty essays and monographs on contemporary Italian literature, several of which have been translated into English.

Thirteen of these publications focus on Grazia Deledda. Her monograph on Deledda includes a preface by Martha King, the great translator of Deledda into English. Guiso has also discovered and curated two previously unedited letters by Salvatore Satta, a contemporary of Deledda also from Nuoro, and author of the masterwork Il Giorno del Giudizio (Judgment Day). She serves as jury member or president of several literary awards, including the Antonio Gramsci Literary Prize, and her essays on Deledda have been awarded special distinction by the Premio Alghero Donna.
