Women’s work is a business. Female entrepreneurship stories
LANUSEI – “Women’s work is a business. Stories of female entrepreneurship” is the title of the event that the institutional committee of the Deleddian celebrations organizes for Sunday 1 May, Labor Day, in Lanusei at the Tonio Dei Theater at 6 pm. The day is presented by Lorena Paola Urrai (Councilor of Parità Provincia di Nuoro) and will be an opportunity to tell the different female work experiences directly from the voice of the protagonists.
Female entrepreneurship and more: the narrative thread unfolds through paths that have led women to establish themselves in fields where economic, social and cultural processes have often been governed by men. An event that is part of the rich calendar of appointments scheduled for the 150th anniversary of the birth of Grazia Deledda, a Sardinian writer who was able to break the fate of a society in which women were nothing but wives to pursue the dream of becoming a writer, to the point of winning the Nobel Prize for Literature.
“On the day dedicated to workers – explained Lorena Paola Urrai during the presentation press conference – we will talk about the difficulties of female entrepreneurship but urging them to follow the example of Grazia Deledda as a model of self-determination. We would give a voice to women who talk about many realities of female entrepreneurship and sometimes of gender discrimination in the world of work”.
“Within the conference we will also bring our dissemination project in schools on the themes of gender violence, but also the experience of our cultural events in which we often talk about gender discrimination”, added Loredana Rosa of the Voltalacarta association.
At the presentation also the commissioner of the Province of Nuoro Costantino Tidu and the sub-commissioner for Ogliastra Tonino Mereu: “I find it paradoxical that in 2022 we still have to work to give equal opportunities to women in the world of work which is very far from being reached – said Mereu – Unfortunately this is the situation and we must try to do everything to reach the goal of gender equality”.
Institutional greetings are expected from the President of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia Christian Solinas, the Sub Commissioner of the Province of Nuoro – Ogliastra Tonino Mereu, the Mayor of Triei Anna Assunta Chironi and the Mayor of Lanusei Davide Burchi. Also scheduled are the speeches of Monsignor Antonello Mura, Bishop of the Diocese of Nuoro-Lanusei, and Anthony Muroni, Artistic Director of the”Celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the birth of Grazia Deledda”.
